Everyone has potential for something, but no way to see it
Quotient Sciences wanted an objective way to identify future leaders and develop potential across the whole organization, not just those a manager happened to put forward.
The team at Quotient Sciences were looking for an objective assessment to help them identify future leaders, while simultaneously driving organization-wide development, tailored specifically to individual needs. This would be the launchpad for ‘Potential@Q’, a program built around the idea that everyone has potential for something.
‘Potential@Q’ needed to build strengths and explore development areas whatever someone’s likely career trajectory, and to maximize diversity, equity and inclusion outcomes by opening the process to everyone, rather than relying on manager nominations, which are open to bias.
One dashboard, from self-nomination to development
A single, end-to-end solution carried people from putting themselves forward to receiving a tailored development plan.
Rather than relying on manager nominations, Quotient Sciences invited every employee to nominate themselves for ‘Potential@Q’. A total of 315 individuals completed the Wave behavioral questionnaire, which drove the Leadership Potential Dashboard.
The dashboard revealed each person’s leadership potential and their natural orientation across three career paths, People, Professional and Pioneering, with both group-level and individual views.
Every participant received their own tailored development report, backed by a virtual group development session and an optional 1-2-1 conversation, alongside a linked LinkedIn Learning program built around the same themes.
Nominate
All employees, not just those put forward by a manager, could nominate themselves to join ‘Potential@Q’.

A fairer, faster way to see potential, and what to do with it
Self-nomination and one connected dashboard replaced a slower, less objective way of spotting and developing talent.
The Leadership Potential Dashboard cut the odds of wrongly identifying potential from 1 in 5 to 1 in 50, giving Quotient Sciences a far more robust basis for talent decisions than manager nomination alone.
The whole program, from launch to every participant receiving their development report, ran in 6.5 weeks. It has since become an annual fixture, open to all employees, and the insight it generates now informs Quotient Sciences’ wider learning and development strategy.
“The knowledge of the team has been absolutely critical to being a partner for us and help us position the changes. They were essential to us not making any missteps. There isn’t any other company out there that will drive this level of product and service. The product is outstanding and the service is exceptional.”
