a pool of interviewers, not all trained in psychometric assessment, needed to run a rigorous talent mobility process at pace
A robust process, built for interviewers who aren’t assessment specialists
Virgin Media O2 needed a robust, validated way to assess leadership potential and career pathways for talent mobility, one its existing pool of interviewers could use without specialist training.
Amidst the rise of emerging technologies, Virgin Media O2 was facing a period of change. To adapt to evolving skills demands, the business required a mobilization of talent through reskilling, upskilling or external hiring, and needed a robust, validated tool that was predictive of potential and career pathways.
The organization needed to deploy its existing pool of interviewers, who weren’t all skilled in psychometric assessment, calling for a business-user report version. And because the client works in a fast-moving industry, the project needed to hold pace with the rate of organizational change.
A bespoke report, built and delivered in three weeks
A proven interview guide, extended with role-specific and predictive detail, and made usable by any interviewer.
Build on a proven base
Saville proposed a bespoke report for assessing 100 leaders, built on the base of its Leadership Impact Selection Guide, a well-regarded, standardized interview guide.
Add role-specific and predictive detail
Editable, bespoke Role-Specific Questions captured the requirements of each ‘Heads of’ role, and a Leadership Impact Potential Prediction gave interviewers insight into candidates’ potential across professional, people and pioneering impact areas, including how leaders would adapt to new products, markets and change.
Make it usable by everyone
The report stayed business user-friendly, interpretable by non-psychometric trained users, and a 20-minute webinar educated the interviewer pool on how to use it.
from the start of consultation to a delivered, bespoke report
A robust process, at the pace the business needed
A bespoke report, built in three weeks, gave a wider interviewer pool a consistent, science-first way to assess talent mobility.
From the start of consultation to the delivery of the report, the process took three weeks. In collaboration with Saville’s Research and Development team, the organization’s needs were understood, mock-ups created, the output built, tested and released, all within that window.
Across the 96 interviews that followed, the organization saved 24 hours in interview preparation time, assuming an average of 15 minutes saved per interview using the interpretable, user-friendly report. Using the same pre-designed, structured report built on rigorous psychometric data across the pool of 100 leaders, decision-making was efficient, rigorous and consistent.
The bespoke report, by the numbers
From initial consultation to delivery, the bespoke report was built in three weeks and then used to assess 100 leaders through a single, consistent approach. Across 96 interviews, the structured reporting and scoring process saved 24 hours of interview preparation time. The report was designed to be used confidently by interviewers without specialist psychometric training, while giving every interviewer the same evidence-led framework for assessing leadership capability.
