- Tell us a bit about your background prior to Saville Assessment, where did you study, what was your first role after graduating?
-
Before working at Saville Assessment, I was working in the Offshore Finance sector, a role that was perhaps more aligned to where I lived rather than what I had studied at University.
At University, I did a BSc in Psychological Sciences followed by a Master’s Degree in Business Psychology, but roles involving the field of occupational psychology were fairly few and far between where I lived.
- What attracted you most to the role at Saville?
- Well, it was an opportunity to get involved with a role that related directly to my field of study. Also, at the time I started at Saville, which was all the way back in 2004, it was an opportunity to be involved in a new business and help shape the future of psychometrics through the development of new tools.
- Tell us a bit about what your role entails, what do you enjoy most about it?
- My role currently is a Product Project Manager. In essence, I form a go-between point between our product owners and our Client Facing / Marketing teams to ensure we keep product development on schedule but also that we are communicating the right messaging to help our clients use our products. I also look after how we communicate to the outside world about our products and changes, and help ensure a smooth roll out of new products and updates. I think one of the things that I enjoy most is being able to work across teams, so I have many different calls with different people in the business which helps me stay widely connected.
- Tell us about your journey within Saville Assessment
-
I’ve been with Saville Assessment since 2004 so throughout that time my role has, as you would expect, changed and evolved along with the company’s needs. What that has enabled me to do is understand how each relative component part of the business operates, and the relative strengths and challenges within each area.
The first five years at Saville were very much focused on developing our suite of Wave questionnaires and aptitude portfolio, from initial item writing to scoping out how our first reports would look. It really was a great opportunity to be involved in the creation of something new.
It’s been a real learning curve to have been involved with a business from initial start-up to now.
My current role places me within the Research and Development team, but I still have fairly large scope to work across other teams too which I really enjoy.
- What does an average week look like for you? Do you tend to work from home, or from the office?
-
I work from home permanently due to the location of where home is compared to the office. I am a firm believer in the importance of structure when working from home, so I always walk before work (it helps having a dog) and find time to get out at lunch.
Work wise, my week usually consists of Team calls to make updates on various projects that are ongoing. Some of these may be related to scheduling and others will be working on new content for new products. If we have communications to send out, these will need to be drafted and sent across the business. There will also be some weekly update calls and time to work on content that I may be pulling together for marketing, such as new articles or whitepapers.
- What do you enjoy most about the culture at Saville Assessment?
- The culture at Saville is really friendly and there is a lot of support available when needed. People work hard but have fun!
- What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
- Outside of work, I love to walk cliff paths and beaches, eat good food and do yoga. Plus travel; I am a big fan of going places that fill me with awe.
- Who would you choose to play you in a film of your life
- Haha – well, it would have to be someone small. Maybe a Reese Witherspoon?
- And finally, tell us a fun fact about yourself
- A fun fact.. well despite living in Jersey - home to the world famous Royal Potato – I do not like, neither do I consume, potatos in any form!
