As a Managing Consultant, Daphne works with multiple clients around the world to help improve their talent hiring and development programs.

- Tell us a bit about your background prior to Saville Assessment, where did you study, what was your first role after graduating?
-
My first role after graduation was a job at Canning, a partner of SA in Tokyo, Japan, who are a Talent Development Consultancy.
After finishing my Master's thesis on the impact of different leadership styles in Japan I was looking for work experience in Tokyo and through an event at the British Chamber of Commerce got in touch with a coach who worked at Canning. She introduced me to the organization and this is where I started my career. I really enjoyed that I got the opportunity to get involved in different types of work at Canning, from organizing events, marketing, skills training delivery and assessments, but it was the assessment-related work that really made me tick.
- What attracted you most to the role at Saville?
-
I loved living in Japan, but after a number of years I really wanted to move bit closer to home (the Netherlands for me) so looked at opportunities in London.
My first choice was to work for Saville. I loved working with the tools in Japan and had a really great impression of the culture at Saville. When working for the partner organization, I visited one of the fantastically-organized International Conferences from Saville and absolutely loved the people, professionalism of the organization, and great energy in the team!
- Tell us a bit about what your role entails, what do you enjoy most about it?
-
I work in the Consultancy team, where we support our clients with the implementation of assessment solutions across the talent cycle to help them hire, build and lead talent. The role is a combination of business development, account management and delivery.
I really love the variation and enjoy the commercial aspects of the role, which aligns well with my background in economics. On the other hand, I also thoroughly enjoy delivering leadership assessments, spending time with people, understanding their behavioral preferences and really learning about what drives and motivates them is fascinating.
I manage a small part of our consultancy team and absolutely love this part of the job.
- Tell us about your journey within Saville Assessment
- I joined the UK team as a Consultant. Since then I have had fantastic opportunities to progress, growing eventually into the Managing Consultant role I have today.
- What does an average week look like for you? Do you tend to work from home, or from the office?
- I work remotely from the Netherlands and therefore work from home. I visit the team in the UK approximately once a month, which always energizes me as I love spending time with colleagues
- What do you enjoy most about the culture at Saville Assessment?
- The people - I work with a really smart bunch of supportive people who are great fun. The clients - working with a variety of clients in different industries and regions. The opportunities – I really appreciate the progression opportunities provided by Saville; if you have a drive and want to achieve something, you really get supported.
- Do you have any advice for someone starting out in the industry?
- Working with coaches and mentors throughout my career has been extremely helpful, so make sure you find a job and company you love, and surround yourself with a great support network.
- What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
-
I really love good food and wine, so the consumption of it I consider one of my biggest hobbies. I do also like cooking!
To keep a healthy balance with the above, I do an outdoor bootcamp twice a week with friends, which is a great combination of fitness and social.
- Who would you choose to play you in a film of your life?
- Ooo that is a difficult question! A successful career woman who is a role model to others - side note: in my head this character always wears the most beautiful designer suits and shoes (currently typing this whilst sitting in in a hoodie under a blanket!)
- And finally, tell us a fun fact about yourself
- I have a small tattoo on my wrist staying Ikigai, which is a Japanese concept meaning ‘a reason for being,’ (see diagram below). For me, work plays a big part in it.
